About dora

S. Gates (aka "dora") is a relatively geeky creature that currently makes her home with her fiance and their two pets in So. MD. She writes, draws, and plays video games. She was born on March 4, 1985 in Asheville, NC, and she has lived in the southeastern United States for her entire life.

At the end of June and for most of July, 2008, she had the opportunity to fly to Los Angeles and drive cross-country to help her boyfriend at the time move. It was an amazing experience for her, and she is extremely grateful that she had the opportunity to fulfill one of her life-long dreams. Needless to say, not long after this, her boyfriend became her fiance.

As far as video games go, she likes most things platformer or RPG (particularly of the Japanese variety), and she also plays World of Warcraft with several friends and family members. She currently plays exclusively Horde on the Area 52 server, and she is one of the founding members of the guild Envisa.

At this time, dora does not capitalize her internet handle because of its origins (which are rather dull, and have nothing to do with the Nickelodeon property) as well as the fact that she just prefers how it looks without capitalization. It has been this way for many years, and is not likely to change.

Harpy's Nest.com is hosted through Precision Effect, a hosting service with outstanding customer support. It was coded painstakingly by hand in Notepad++, with the exception of Three O'Clock, which uses a Wordpress theme that dora did not create. Eventually she wishes to code that by hand as well, but frankly the code makes her eyes bleed.

That said, this site was coded with Mozilla Firefox in mind, though it seems to treat other browsers well enough. Still, Firefox is a free, easily customizable alternative to IE, and dora fully recommends switching.
