Peter Murphy – Hang Up

They come on over, said the tripper to the… was the goast
Caught you real dead in, master of masters
I tell you daddy,
Don’t… to a place all full when the angels are alive
They believe in nature,
I get so fear, I get so fear,
I get so fear, I get so fear,
And you was the… and you are the Jesus the Moise the…
Yes there’s a god higher
Hang up the phone and come on over
Don’t act like that to a place when all the angels are alive,
There been angels alive
Higher so be there,
Higher so be there,
Higher so be there,
Higher so be there,
Higher so be there,
If the truth be told, does teh tripper show
Is messing with the… to that drive that devil got now
You can drag me and sometime with no clothes on
With a problem and no poasing
Hanginh up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
I tell you this
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Hanging up the phone
Higher so be there
Higher so be there
Higher so be there
Higher so be there
Higher so be there
Higher so be there
Higher so be there

The Grand Experiment – Doomtree

DESSA
It begins with a flash
I know they say it ends the same
bit of skill, bit of chance
now every player guess the game
we start with these planets waltzing through the darkness
tip the axis, that one’s ours
zoom the camera in, cue lights up, dim the stars
We shape the stone
paint our pictures on the wall
we hunt alone, plant in spring
learn to harvest in the fall
and we choose a king, mine the metals for his forges
to better wage our wars and all of Olympus is laughing
until we go and split the atom

SIMS
Push that metal on down the road, we built this city on coal and gold
Money that trickles out, fill up that cup and sip it down
from the salt in the sails on down the rails
Everything’s for sale is the golden rule
including…well, I’m no fool
They get in a rush in a haze but I get out of mind, out of body, out of pocket
I don’t mind putting on a bit of mileage, but I won’t auto pilot with my eyelids shut
I’m still gunning, but I learned what’s worth hunting
and I learned what’s worth nothing
saw it
read it
outdone it

STEF (hook)
There’s no escape
They always looking for that easy out
but there’s nowhere to go
There’s no patience
They always looking for that easy out
but there’s nowhere to go

CECIL
Now all the parts are running, sparks are spilling out the gears
Over some thousand faces waiting years to see this work
Aching cause they need it first
Patient, but they seem berserk
Craving for that feast of merch
Yo! Save a slice for me and her
Isn’t it marvelous…just darling (it’s the newest thing)
It’s totally harmless, but it’s charming (it’s the cutest thing)
But, it bites…not hard…just hard enough to break the skin
and your bone
and your back
and the bank
But wait, it comes with a warranty
for a week, and that’s respectable
It’s cheap and it’s ethical…well, it’s ethical…well, it’s magical really
See, you put the cash in the till, fill in the blanks and that’s it
For my next trick I’ll need your password and an exit
and then poof
cue the fog machine

(Hook)

MIKE
Modern man
out of hand
motor mind
off the line
automate the operator
Can you hear me clearly?
I’m gonna live forever
give me guerilla arms
sling shot me into outer space in hyper colored glitter bombs
We’ll make our mark huh?
They’ll put no stops to us
We’ll leave our footprints on foothills and dance the Megatropolis
pushing evolution faster
catching continental drifts
Desperately Seeking Solutions to problems we know we’ll never fix
In the belly of a robot
out the valley of a microchip
Dialysis in Wonderland
Apple Z the viruses
I’ve never been myself, there is no human experience
you can’t Apple S yourself
this is The Grand Experiment

Big Black Sea – Gary Numan (feat. Rico)

I left a rose at the bottom of the big black sea
For you
From me

I haven’t uttered a sound since you set me free
I wish I was you
and you felt like me

Outside connection’s breaking down
Internal wiring’s burning out

The clouds so thick that I can’t see
This is for you
from me

She said: ‘tell me all your secrets, fantasies and fears;
Let me see the polaroids of people you hold dear.’
Trapped in tunnel vision, in monophonic sound
She says she loves you
she loves you
then it all falls down

Echoes in the bedroom
Projections on the walls
Translations of her letters:
Forever’s not at all
Trapped in tunnel vision
and monophonic sound
she loves you
she loves you
then it all falls down

Outside connection’s breaking down
Internal wiring’s burning out
The cloud’s so thick that I can’t see.
I wish I was you
Instead of me

I left a rose at the bottom of the big black sea.
I did it for you.
from me.
I haven’t uttered a sound since you set me free
I wish I was you
and you felt like me

Outside connection’s breaking down
All internal wiring’s burning out
I dive down towards the big black sea
this isn’t for you
this one’s for me

This time it’s all for me
And this time it’s all for me

(she loves you, she loves you then it all falls down)

Music Monday #2

Animal Life – Shearwater

Born inside the gates of a family
Hardened by a roman machinery
Cast among the building sites,
The coiling wires, the shots collected

Called out in the wake of a lottery
Held inside the family gathering
Mirrored beams and dog-like stretch
A wandering association
Murmurs in the dark confessional
And rides along the road, ephemeral
As an animal life

Rusting in the shade of the batteries
Hanging from a rope in the gallery
Pacing down the balance beam
Of half-remembered holidays
No rush of light, no sun or belonging
No joy in building, love in the finishing
Chasing down an anodyne
And half-reflected radiance
To hide below the ancient barricade
In chambers like the rooms a swallow made
For an animal life

Charging down the maw of the ocean
I want to come close, I want to come closer
I held your name inside my mouth
Through all the days out wandering
But called up from the mouth of oblivion,
Cast away like dogs from the shelter
I shed the dulling armor plates
That once collected radiance
And, surging at the blood’s perimeter:
The half remembered wild interior
Of an animal life

Music Monday #1

(In order to liven the place up a bit, I’ve decided to start a recurring theme, Music Monday. Every other Monday, I’ll post a song and lyrics– where applicable– for everyone to enjoy.)

Seamstress – Dessa

I kept an angel
In a box beneath my bed
Little beast had broke her jaw
And I tried to fix her head
They said I had to put her back
That I had to put her back exactly where I found her
But I know I saw
That she was doing good, till the cat got her

And I came to write a letter
But my pen was full of hymns
I came to drown a sorrow
It seems they’ve learned to swim
Mouth full of pins and heart pumping gasoline
It’s late
I’m still at the sewing machine
Stitching up strays fifteen years
But this one’s mean
But I fixed you up
When they said you were past repair
And I stitched you up
I thread a needle with my hair
And I fixed you up
When you were still a common sparrow
But look whose on the shoulder now when the road goes narrow

I kept an angel
In a box beneath my bed
Little bitch had broke her jaw
And I tried to fix her head
They said I had to put her back
That I had to put her back exactly where I found her
But I know I saw
That she was doing good, until the cat got her

Well I’m putting you out of my misery
We ain’t got much but we’ve got history
It was a mercy kill
No
It was a suicide
No
It was an accident
No
Well at least I tried

Wait soft drugs and seam ripper
Tough love and tape measure
Stitching up boys is different that way
You fix a bird you buy it a cage
You fix a man
You fix a man, and he flies away

When I ran out of thread
I couldn’t let go
But that’s not sewing
That’s, that’s just poking holes
And it’s a strange breed
A different kind of creature
That looks for love through the eye of a needle
But the creed of the seamstress is
That you’re pretty in pieces

I kept an angel
In a box beneath my bed
Little beast had broke her jaw
And I tried to fix her head
They said I had to put her back
That I had to put her back exactly where I found her
But I know I saw
She was doing good, until the cat got her

Take a seat and let me get a look at your face
Busted, back’s been broke for days
Not much, little something for the pain
Don’t fuss, or we’ll never get a seam to lay straight
And I keep it clean as I can adjust
Adjust the machine in a mattress plus
I never did need for a pattern
Just some good restraints and my bedside manner

When I ran out of thread, I couldn’t let go
But that’s not sewing, that’s, that’s just poking holes
When I ran out of thread, I couldn’t let go
But that’s not sewing, that’s, that’s just poking holes
